Q: How do I add a file to a content page?
To add a file to a basic content page you need to firstly upload the file to Site Manager and then create a link to it on the required page.
First, click the large 'Files' icon on the toolbar - the left column will refresh to show the files already in place. In the box at the bottom of the left column type a name for your file (something meaningful so you can tell what the file is at a later date) and then click the 'browse' button to locate the file on your computer.
After clicking 'OK' there may be a short wait while the file uploads depending on the size of the file. You can tell a file has finished uploading when it appears in the left column. Right click on the file name and click 'publish'.
To create a link to the file, edit the page you want the file to appear on and highlight the text you wish to use as a link. Click the link button (as if you were creating a link to another page) and from the drop down box at the top of the pop up box select the top level of folders (usually given the name of your website). From here you should see a list of folders, double click on the 'Files' folder and then click on the file you want to link to. The name of the file should appear in the text field underneath the folder list. Save and publish the page for it to appear on the live site.
Q: How do I add a file to a file gallery?
Some sites will have a template available which contains a file browser or gallery - this is indicated by a green strip across the page in the editor with the wording "This area stores files". Right click on the green strip to add a file or to change the properties of the file gallery (such as the number of columns and whether you want the file to open in a new window).
Q: I've added a file but it's not downloading
Make sure the file has been published by clicking the 'Files' icon on the main toolbar then right clicking on your file and clicking 'Publish'.
Some browsers have problems opening PDF files in a separate window. If you find a PDF file is not opening in Internet Explorer but is working correctly in a browser such as Firefox, try setting it to open in the same browser window.
