Q: How do I change the title of the page?
Page titles are indicated by an orange dashed line around the text in the page editor. The title of the page is automatically displayed from the page name, so renaming the page will alter the title accordingly.
Q: My text is too big, how do I make it smaller?
Your text has probably been made a heading which makes the text larger. To change the size, highlight the text and select a different style from the drop down box under the 'Save' button on the toolbar.
Heading 1 is (generally) larger than heading 2 and so on. If you want the text to be the same as the main content text select 'paragraph' or 'normal' from the list.
Advanced users can click on the 'Edit HTML' tab above the content and manually adjust the heading tags.
Q: How do I tidy up text I've copied and pasted from Word
Microsoft Word uses it's own formatting to display text which is carried through to Site Manager when it is copied and pasted - this can result in untidy text that doesn't fit with the rest of your website. To fix this you can right click on the text, click 'cleanup formatting' and click 'ok'. This should strip all the Word formatting and leave you with tidy text.
Q: How do I add tables to a page?
You can copy and paste simple tables of data from Microsoft Word or a similar word processor. Advanced users can click the 'Edit HTML' tab and enter the code directly into the editor.
Q: How do I change a link on my page?
Adding a new link over the top of an existing one can cause the link to break so you need to clear the original link first. Click to the right of your link (so there are no spaces between the link text and the cursor) and press the backspace key once. The appearance of the link should change back to 'normal' text but no characters from your text should have been deleted. Highlight the text and click the 'link' button to create a link to the new destination.
Q: Is there a spell checker?
Site Manager is not designed to be a full word processor so this feature is not available. We suggest you spell check your content in a word processor (such as Microsoft Word) before adding it to Site Manager.
Q: How can I edit faster?
It may be quicker to write your content in a word processor such as Microsoft Word and then copy and paste it into Site Manager. (See 'How do I tidy up text I've copied and pasted from Word?'). The next version of Site Manager will be significantly faster.
Q: How do I change the date of a page / article?
If you wish to change the date of a page (for example for news articles), right click on the page name in the left column and click 'properties'. Click on the Advanced tab, then tick the box labeled 'change creation date' and fill in the required date into the text field that appears. Click 'OK' and publish the page for the date change to appear on the public site.
Q: My links keep pointing to the homepage, how do I fix this?
This is due to a problem we identified when pasting in an external web address into the 'Link' box using the paste option on the right click menu. You can bypass this issue by either typing the web address directly into the box, or using ctrl+v to paste the link.
If your website is experiencing this problem please contact us and we will ensure that your website has the solution to this problem applied.
