Websites are set to replace print when it comes to generating revenue.
It is well known fact that website marketing costs less than print and can reach a wider audience.
Perhaps what is not so widely known is print marketing and print sales have been falling for several years. Print and newspaper sales are set to drop significantly, which is not surprising when all the consumer needs are just one click away (Editor and Publisher 2007).
The WAN survey revealed that pure-plays Internet revenue grew by over 100% where as newspaper and print profits dropped in the same period. Companies moving into the electronic age are reaping in profits. Marks and Spencer have seen a 60% rise in profits since the launch of their new site in March this year. Providing us with further evidence that websites are set to become the main source of business now and in the future.
Is any website or emarketing good enough? The simple answer is no.
Any savvy person knows that people won't use a site that they can't find their way around (Krug2006). Which basically comes down to client usability and accessibility.
Client accessibility determines that most people can access your website including those persons who have some visual disability.
Client usability determines how the user navigates around your site, the user will often navigate through the site on their first visit by clicking their way through lots of different pages, if on their second, third, fourth and even fifth visit they still have to click through 100 pages to get to their desired page they will soon leave and probably not come back.
Client usability must allow the client to get to the desired page fast. Only one or two clicks, to access most areas of the site typically a hierarchy system, for example the home page has several links to sub pages with addition links within the sub page if necessary finally reaching the clients desired page, remember every page should only be a few clicks away from the home page.
Breakup your text and limit how much you say on one page basically it's not how much text it's what you want your client to read, let's be honest you have probably only scan read this news article.
